Its extreme off-road capability combined with flexible transport and storage capacities make the TRISTAR the perfect service, transport or surf mobile, at your choice.

Transporter of the future. On the occasion of this year’s IAA, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles presents a concept vehicle with the legendary name of TRISTAR.

The beefy pick-up with extended cab, styling bar and short wheelbase has a permanent four-wheel drive with mechanical rear axle differential lock and 30 mm additional ground clearance.

Fitting its name, the designers have developed a high-precision, new and yet familiar design language: the sharp, wrap-around lines, LED headlights and a changed architecture of the whole front give the concept car a powerful and wide appearance.

The monolithic dashboard is reminiscent in its shape and simple functionality of the earlier models of the VW Transporter. The load can be distributed on two separate levels: there is a spacious, dust-proof and watertight drawer under the flatbed section, where a deep-tread spare tire is also housed. The interior has a 20-inch tablet table and state-of-the-art video conferencing and sound systems alongside the turnable and slidable driver and passenger seats, turning the TRISTAR into the perfect place for meetings. We even thought of having an espresso machine installed.

All-rounder for specialists. Its extreme off-road capability in combination with flexible transport and storage capacities make the TRISTAR into a mobile workshop, a mobile high-tech office or into a perfect surf mobile. Safe, high-quality and flexible, the new Volkswagen TRISTAR is a versatile tool for every user. Whether an architect, a film crew, service expert, landscape gardener or an expedition participant.

Benchmark of its class. Dr. Eckhard Scholz, Chairman of the Board of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, speaking at the world premiere: “The TRISTAR shows an unprecedented combination of all the good features of the T model series. It demonstrates its potential and proves it is still the ultimate benchmark. Hence the TRISTAR combines yesterday and tomorrow: On the occasion of the anniversary of the first Syncro concept car,

its strikingly shows the company’s all-wheel drive expertise and demonstrates its future viability.” He continues: “We take the needs of our customers seriously and are continuing to develop our best-seller with great purpose. We are thus redefining the benchmark of the class with each and every new model.”

Volkswagen Beetle GRC 544 bhp – 0-60 mph in just 2.1 seconds

Volkswagen has unveiled the Beetle GRC, ahead of its debut at the Red Bull Global Rallycross race this weekend.
Set to be driven by Tanner Foust and Scott Speed, the rally car has been equipped with an aggressive front bumper and a ventilated hood. We can also see aerodynamic mirrors, side scoops and a massive rear wing. Other notable highlights include high-performance brakes, an upgraded suspension, limited-slip differentials and 17-inch alloy wheels with Yokohama competition tires.
Power is provided by a turbocharged 1.6-liter TSI four-cylinder engine that develops 544 bhp (405 kW). It is connected to a six-speed sequential transmission and an all-wheel-drive system which enables the car to rocket from 0-60 mph in just 2.1 seconds.
According to Volkswagen Motorsport director Jost Capito, “After Volkswagen of America’s impressive start on the rallycross scene with the Polo, the launch of the new Beetle GRC rallycross car represents the next major milestone. The Beetle boasts a unique appearance and state-of-the-art technology. It will sweep fans off their feet.”

2016 Bentley SUV Spy Shots – It’s not an Audi?

2016 Bentley SUV Spy Shots – It’s not an Audi?

Bentley’s new SUV is due to enter production in 2016 and should be on sale either that same year or in early 2017. Today we have our first spy shots of a test mule for the new SUV. Though the mule looks similar to ones used for the 2015 Audi Q7, we know it’s for the Bentley SUV because of a number of important clues.

The wheels are much larger than those fitted to any Audi mule and at the rear there are a set of four exhaust tips . We can also see new intakes masked at the front, however, the biggest giveaway is the license plate registration info: the vehicle is owned by Bentley and features a 6.0-liter engine.

Underpinning the vehicle is the SUV version of the Volkswagen Group’s next-generation MLB Evo platform that debuts in the 2015 Q7 and, in shortened form, will eventually appear in the next-generation versions of the Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg and a new SUV from Lamborghini based on 2012’s Urus concept.

Bentley’s new SUV will be based on its own EXP 9 F concept from 2012 although the somewhat gaudy design of the concept will be  updated to something more elegant and athletic. A previous teaser image shows that Bentley designers have adopted four individual lights for the production SUV’s headlights as opposed to the two lights fitted to the concept.

The interior will feature Bentley’s traditional leather, wood and metal elements. Third-row seating is planned, though it’s not clear if this will be standard or optional.

In the powertrain department, expect Bentley’s current V-8 and W-12 engines to be featured. The automaker has also confirmed that a plug-in hybrid system will be offered in the new SUV, though it’s not clear yet which internal combustion engine the system will incorporate. We’ll most likely see the V-8 used although there’s the possibility Bentley may utilize a V-6 engine to help maximize efficiency.

Production of the new SUV will take place at Bentley’s main facility in Crewe, England. While there have been reports the SUV may be badged a Falcon, this is unlikely given Ford’s rights to the name.
